Çağla Kubat — Biography
Çağla Kubat (born 16 November 1979 in İzmir) is a Turkish model, actress, professional windsurfer and mechanical engineer. Most sources give 1979, though DBpedia, the Spanish and Persian Wikipedias and SinemaTürk state 1978.
She graduated from the Italian High School in Istanbul and then from Istanbul Technical University with a degree in mechanical engineering. At Miss Turkey 2002 she finished as first runner-up and went on to represent Turkey at Miss Universe 2002; the Bulgarian Wikipedia describes her as the winner, but the English, Spanish and German versions agree on the runner-up placing.
Competing for the Fenerbahçe sailing and windsurfing team, she became a multiple Turkish champion, won the IFCA European slalom title in 2005 and has raced on the PWA World Tour since 2006. Her acting credits include Sağır Oda, Arka Sokaklar, Kuzey Rüzgârı and O Hayat Benim. She married the American windsurfer Jimmy Diaz; the couple's surf school in Alaçatı was damaged in the İzmir wildfires of July 2025.
