Edis — Biography

Born Edis Görgülü on 28 November 1990 in London, the singer grew up in İzmir and attended İzmir Özel Tevfik Fikret High School, taking music lessons alongside his regular schooling. After enrolling at Galatasaray University's Faculty of Communication he moved to Istanbul, where early attempts to launch a recording career went nowhere; he turned to acting instead, appearing in the TV series Dinle Sevgili (2011-2012) and in the films Hayatımın Rolü (2012), a Turkish adaptation of Mrs. Doubtfire, and Alya (2023).

A music offer from his manager during his acting years redirected his career. His debut single "Benim Ol", released in March 2014, reached number two on the charts, and the follow-up singles "Dudak" (2016) and "Çok Çok" (2017) matched that result before "Roman" became a number-one hit. Edis released his first studio album, Ân, in March 2018, and has since won numerous honors, including three Radyo Boğaziçi Music Awards and four Golden Butterfly (Altın Kelebek) Awards.

In the summer of 2026 he performed on an international Lollapalooza stage, drawing attention with a halay dance during his set, and released a new single as he continued his music career.
