Engin Hepileri — Biography

Engin Hepileri was born on 3 March 1978 in Istanbul; he first encountered theatre while a student at Cağaloğlu Anadolu Lisesi, appearing in four State Theatres productions. He entered Istanbul University's State Conservatory theatre department in 1996, joined the Kent Oyuncuları company in 1998, appearing in roughly twenty of its productions, and worked as a research assistant while completing a master's degree in acting there between 2002 and 2005. In 2008 he began directing by staging Israel Horovitz's Kuyruk, and also taught as a faculty member at Academy Kenter and his own university. On stage he won the Afife New Generation Special Award in 2004 and shared the Adana Golden Boll jury's collective-performance prize with his cast in 2011. He reached wide audiences through the series Kampüsistan and Emret Komutanım, played singer Kazım Koyuncu in Yağmur: Kıyamet Çiçeği, took the role of Hakan Eren in İntikam, and continued in productions such as Doğduğun Ev Kaderindir, ANKA and Prestij Meselesi. He presented TRT 1's Altın Petek contest from 2016 to 2017. He married Ayşe Topçu in 2010 and divorced her in 2014, then married actress Beyza Şekerci in 2015, with whom he has a child. He lost his mother in May 2026.
