Füsun Demirel — Biography

Füsun Demirel is a Turkish film and television actress born on 13 June 1958 in Ankara. Her path into performance began during her studies in Italy, where she trained in language at the University for Foreigners of Perugia and in theatre at Rome's Accademia D'Arte Drammatica, later assisting the celebrated Italian theatre figure Dario Fo. In 1980 she moved to Germany and performed in Vasıf Öngören's staging of 'Zengin Mutfağı' with the Berlin Kollektiv Theatre.

Active on screen since 1982, Demirel has appeared in more than sixty films spanning several eras of Turkish cinema, including Züğürt Ağa, Uçurtmayı Vurmasınlar, Berdel, Büyük Adam Küçük Aşk and Zer. On television she has continued her role in the series Zeytin Ağacı since 2022, carrying into its third season, which began airing in 2026.

Beyond acting, Demirel also works as a translator, and in 2020 she served as jury president at the Adana Altın Koza Film Festival.
