Gökhan Özoğuz — Biography
Gökhan Özoğuz was born on 11 October 1976 in Istanbul; his family is originally from Gaziantep. He completed an open education program at Anadolu University.
He founded Athena, one of the leading bands of Turkish rock music, together with his twin brother Hakan Özoğuz; he is the band's lead vocalist and guitarist. Having produced many hit songs since their first album in 1993, the band represented Turkey at the 2004 Eurovision Song Contest with 'For Real' and finished fourth with 195 points, Turkey's highest score up to that time.
He appeared in the films O Şimdi Asker, O Şimdi Mahkum and Tramvay; Kendi Yolumda, in which he played the lead and served as producer, was released in 2022. In 2021 he was a guest actor in Kırmızı Oda. Between 2013 and 2017 he was a jury member on O Ses Türkiye; the 2019 documentary 25 Litre, made in collaboration with National Geographic, attracted great attention.
Özoğuz, who married Melis Ülken in 2012 and has three children, divorced in 2025.
