Hamiyet Yüceses — Biography
Hamiyet Yüceses (1915, Istanbul – 10 July 1996, Muğla) was a Turkish singer of Ottoman classical music, regarded as one of the genre's most powerful voices. Her full name was Hamiyet Yüceses Sabuncu.
She reached a wide audience as a radio and music-hall singer and released a great number of records. She became closely associated with songs such as "Makber" and "Gitti de Gelmeyiverdi" and also appeared in the 1950 film İstanbul Geceleri. Her legacy continues to be honoured at commemorative concerts.
