Kandemir Konduk — Biography

Born on September 4, 1945 in Istanbul, Kandemir Konduk is a well-known figure in Turkish theatre and comedic writing, working as both a playwright and a screenwriter. After finishing Edirne High School, he held a range of jobs in his youth, including accounting, textile work, street vending, and stage acting, before turning to writing and publishing humor pieces in newspapers and magazines. His first play, "Yüzsüz Zühtü," premiered in 1971 at the Altan Erbulak-Metin Serezli Çevre Theatre, and he went on to have a total of seventeen plays staged over his career.

He became especially known for plays such as "İnsanlığın Lüzumu Yok" and "Yasaklar," performed at Devekuşu Kabare, the company founded by Zeki Alasya and Metin Akpınar, and in 1982 he also collaborated with Müjdat Gezen through the Güldürü Üretim Merkezi (GÜM) initiative. As a screenwriter, Konduk contributed to film and television projects including "Abuzer Kadayıf," "Mahallenin Muhtarları," and "Perihan Abla," and he also produced the film "Ana."
