Metin Şentürk — Biography

Metin Şentürk is a singer, trained in Turkish music, as well as an actor and a public voice on disability rights. He lost his sight as a child, and has released records and albums since the late 1980s. In 2010 he drove a Ferrari F430 at 303.62 km/h and was credited as the world's fastest blind driver. His stage work and advocacy continue side by side: in 2026 he travelled to New York to speak for disability rights at the United Nations, and in August he performed in Menemen.

His musical path began in 1987 with Elimdeki Fotoğrafın, followed by albums such as Bırakma Beni, Allah Biliyor, Yaktın Beni, Sana Aitim and Dünya Güzeli. After 1999 he continued with Sahte Dünya, Hazinem, Masal, Zamanda Yolculuk and Metin Şentürk ile Türk Sanat Müziği; his latest album, Kelebek, appeared in 2015. He came to acting with a small part in the film Kahpe Bizans and a place in the series Unutma Beni; later he played Ferit in Seksenler and made guest appearances in several series.

He was born in Fatih, Istanbul, into a large family of Kosovar origin. He began school at the institution for the blind in İstinye, continued at Büyükçekmece Lisesi alongside sighted pupils, and graduated from the Istanbul Technical University Turkish Music State Conservatory in 1988. He has served as president of the World Disability Foundation. In 2002 he announced he was joining the True Path Party, and in the June 2015 general election he ran as an independent candidate in Istanbul's second district.
