Mircan Kaya was born in 1963 in Artvin. Sometimes credited internationally under the alternate spelling "Mircan Kaia," she has combined a background in civil and earthquake engineering with a parallel career in music, working as both a songwriter and a music producer.

Her recording career began with "Bizim Ninniler," an album regarded as the first of its kind in its field, and she went on to release further albums including Kül, Sala, Numinosum, Outim, Elixir, Nanni and Minor, building a discography that reflects her dual background in engineering and music.
