Nizam Ergüden — Biography

Nizam Ergüden was one of the Yeşilçam supporting actors remembered for his charm; he appeared in well over a hundred and fifty films and also worked in other branches of the industry. He served as set manager on many productions and as art director of Cüneyt Arkın's Babalık. His filmography runs from comedies to dramas.

He began acting with On Korkusuz Adam. Early roles include Muzaffer in Bir Çirkin Adam. From the late 1970s into the early 1980s he turned up in a great many productions, including the cheap erotic-themed films that multiplied in those years. His best-remembered part was İbo in Banker Bilo. He then worked alongside Hakkı Kıvanç and Renan Fosforoğlu in comedies such as Üç Kağıtçı, Beş Parasız Adam, Şaşkın Milyoner and Atla Gel Şaban.

In his later years he appeared opposite Türkan Şoray in On Kadın, and in Uyanık Gazeteci and Sarışın Yıldız. Near the end of his life he left cinema to work as a horse caretaker and trainer, and died in İzmir after being kicked by an Arabian horse in his care. The year of his death appears as both 1989 and 1991 in sources; he is buried in the old Buca Cemetery in İzmir.
