Suna Yıldızoğlu — Biography

Suna Yıldızoğlu (born Sonja Eady on 26 February 1955 in England) is an English-born Turkish film, television and stage actress. The German Wikipedia and DBpedia name Bournemouth as her birthplace, while the Turkish site SinemaTürk spells her birth name "Sonia Eddy".

Drawn to theatre and dance from childhood, she first appeared on stage at eleven. She settled in Turkey in 1974, took her surname and Turkish citizenship on marrying the actor Kayhan Yıldızoğlu, and studied French, Spanish and German language and literature. Her cinema debut came in 1977 opposite Cüneyt Arkın in Yıkılmayan Adam, followed the same year by Kan and then by Petrol Kralları with Zeki Alasya and Metin Akpınar and Gol Kralı with Kemal Sunal. In 1981 she competed at the 17th Golden Orpheus acting contest, taking the Special Burgas and Journalists awards.

SinemaTürk lists some fifty credits for her. She stepped back in 2000 when she moved to Australia for her children's schooling, later returning to the screen in series such as Geniş Aile and 46 Yok Olan. The January 2026 marriage of her daughter, the actress Yasemin Kay Allen, and her own comments on it drew wide press coverage.
