The Grand Budapest Hotel (Büyük Budapeşte Oteli)

Written and directed by Wes Anderson, this 2014 comedy-drama unfolds between the two world wars at the opulent Grand Budapest Hotel in the fictional republic of Zubrowka. The hotel's legendary concierge, Monsieur Gustave H. (Ralph Fiennes), is accused of murdering Madame D., a wealthy elderly guest who dies under mysterious circumstances. Determined to clear his name, he sets off with Zero Moustafa, the hotel's newly hired lobby boy who becomes his trusted friend and protégé. When it emerges that Madame D. left Gustave a priceless Renaissance painting in her will, her greedy heirs stop at nothing to reclaim it, plunging the pair into a perilous adventure as a fascist regime closes in around them.

Inspired by the writings of Stefan Zweig and shot in Germany, the film features a large ensemble cast. It premiered as the opening film of the 2014 Berlin International Film Festival, where it won the Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize. Nominated for nine Academy Awards, it won four: Best Original Score, Best Costume Design, Best Makeup and Hairstyling, and Best Production Design.
