Çakallarla Dans 4

Dance with the Jackals 4 (Çakallarla Dans 4)

Movie · 2016 · 3 people

Released on 25 November 2016, Çakallarla Dans 4 (Dance with the Jackals 4) follows Çakallarla Dans 3: Sıfır Sıkıntı as a Turkish comedy sequel. In it, four of the series' best-loved characters set out on a treasure hunt. Murat Şeker directed it and wrote the screenplay with Ali Tanrıverdi. Sugar Workz and Taff Pictures produced it, UIP distributed it. At the box office it sold 1,351,247 tickets and took about 15.2 million lira.

The story opens with four friends from Fikirtepe, accountant Servet (İlker Ayrık), brother-in-law Gökhan (Şevket Çoruh), meatball vendor Necmi (Timur Acar) and Del Piero Hikmet (Murat Akkoyunlu), who move in together because of money trouble. Sharing a home is hard for them. Then the barber Hüseyin Abi (Hakan Bilgin) brings them a wild but tempting plan: a cousin in Stuttgart has died and left a map whose meaning is unclear. Convinced it is a treasure map, the four head hopefully for Edirne. Didem Balçın (Fatma), Derya Şensoy (Mihriban) and the series newcomers Hande Katipoğlu (Tavşan Zeynep) and Tim Seyfi complete the cast.

Şeker's earlier work includes Deliormanlı; one critic noted the series trusts its director as much as its actors. Bülent Özer and Mevlüt Arıcı shot it; Serhat Ersöz wrote the music.

Through different eyes

Action & Thriller Fan Puts pace, tension and set pieces first; little patience for slow drama.

A treasure map, four friends hitting the road and an adventure heading for Edirne: on paper it has real road-movie energy. But this is not an action film. The pace is carried not by chases or big set pieces but by the characters trading jabs. If you want tension and thrills, keep your expectations low. If you like the series and just want to unwind, this treasure-hunting foursome makes for a fun time.

Yeşilçam Nostalgic A viewer raised on the classics, looking for warm storytelling and strong acting.

Four friends forced to share a home because money is tight carry the sense of solidarity the old neighbourhood films loved. The vague map brought by the barber Hüseyin Abi is like the glimmer of hope in a fairy tale. That starting point promises a warmth close to the classic popular comedies. Yet by the fourth film the characters seem to repeat their familiar jokes rather than grow deeper, and one misses the finesse of the old-fashioned comedy that made you laugh and left a touch of sadness behind. Names such as Hakan Bilgin and Didem Balçın still bring warmth to the cast.

History & Society Lens Asks about the period, the social background and what the work reflects.

The film opens with four friends from Fikirtepe moving in together because of money trouble, a starting point that shows, lightly, how the struggle to make ends meet forces people into shared lives. The map left by a cousin who died in Stuttgart recalls the familiar tie between relatives who emigrated to Germany and those who stayed behind. Looking for salvation in a treasure map can be read as a comedy about people with no way out pinning their hopes on luck and miracles. But the film has no ambition to dig into this social material; the backdrop mostly stays a stage for the jokes.
