Fanaa
Fanaa is a 2006 Indian Hindi-language romantic drama and thriller film directed and written by Kunal Kohli and produced by Aditya Chopra and Yash Chopra under the Yash Raj Films banner. Its title derives from a Sufi term meaning "annihilation of the self." One of the most expensive Hindi productions of its time, it was the first romantic pairing of Aamir Khan and Kajol and marked Kajol's return to cinema after a five-year break.
Set in Delhi and Kashmir, the story follows Zooni, a blind young Kashmiri woman who falls in love with tour guide Rehan while visiting Delhi for a performance, unaware that he hides a dangerous secret. Believed dead after an explosion, Rehan is in fact a member of a separatist organization, and when their paths cross again years later Zooni must choose between love and conscience. Released on 26 May 2006, the film was a major commercial success despite being banned in Gujarat over Khan's remarks on the Narmada Dam project, and it won three awards at the 52nd Filmfare Awards, including Best Actress for Kajol.
