Ghajini is a Hindi-language action thriller directed by A. R. Murugadoss, who co-wrote the screenplay with Aamir Khan, released theatrically on 25 December 2008, coinciding with Christmas. A remake of Murugadoss's 2005 Tamil film of the same name, its core plot was inspired by Christopher Nolan's Memento. Produced by Allu Aravind, Madhu Mantena and Tagore Madhu, distributed by Geetha Arts and scored by A. R. Rahman, the roughly three-hour film stars Khan alongside Asin, Jiah Khan and Pradeep Rawat; Asin reprised her role from the original version, making her Hindi film debut.

The film centres on Sanjay Singhania, a wealthy businessman who develops anterograde amnesia after the mob boss Ghajini murders his fiancée Kalpana before his eyes. With his memory resetting every fifteen minutes, Sanjay pursues his revenge using photographs, notes and tattoos etched across his body. The film became the highest-grossing Indian film of its year and the first Bollywood production to cross the ₹100 crore mark domestically, a record it held until the release of 3 Idiots.
