Ghoul
Ghoul (Persian: غول) is a 1973 Persian-language feature from Iran, directed by Davoud Esmaeili from a screenplay by Reza Aghili. Running about 82 minutes, it was released in Iranian cinemas in the Persian calendar year 1352.
Classified mainly as a horror film, it is also described as carrying thriller and action qualities. Its title invokes the ghoul of Middle Eastern folklore, a legendary creature said to haunt graveyards and consume the dead. The principal performers include Bahman Mofid, Hossein Gil and Morteza Aghili, alongside Jamileh, Jahangir Forouhar and Nematollah Gorji. The picture is regarded as one of the genre productions of Iranian cinema from before the 1979 revolution.
