Hossein Gil — Biography
Born Abdolhossein Gil on 24 September 1940 in Tehran, Hossein Gil is a former Iranian film and television actor whose career ran from the late 1960s through the late 1970s, a period that marked the height of Iran's pre-revolutionary commercial cinema, often referred to as Film Farsi.
He appeared in close to twenty films, including Saalaar-e Mardan, Noah's Storm, Bandari, Ghoul and Journey of the Stone, typically taking character and supporting roles alongside many of the era's best-known directors and performers.
Long absent from the screen, Gil remains remembered as part of the generation of actors who shaped Iran's popular pre-1979 cinema.
