Journey of the Stone
Journey of the Stone (Persian: Safar-e Sang) is a 1978 Iranian drama film written, directed and produced by Masoud Kimiai, one of the leading figures of pre-revolutionary Iranian cinema. Kimiai based his screenplay on Behzad Farahani's work "Sang o Sorna" (The Stone and the Reed Pipe), with Esfandiar Monfaredzadeh serving as production manager.
The Persian-language film runs about 108 minutes and features a prominent cast of the era, including Saeed Rad, Farzaneh Taidi, Jafar Vali and Giti Pashaei, alongside Hossein Gil and Reza Fazeli. Upon its release it became the highest-grossing Iranian film of its year, making it one of the notable commercial successes of the period. The film's posters were designed by Mohammad Ali Bateni and Farshid Mesghali.
