Ghazal is a 1975 Iranian drama film written and directed by Masoud Kimiai, marking his ninth directorial work. The screenplay is adapted from "The Interloper", a short story by Argentine writer Jorge Luis Borges. Starring Mohammad-Ali Fardin, Faramarz Qaribian and Pouri Banayi, the 106-minute Persian-language film was produced by Parviz Sayyad through Telfilm in cooperation with Iranian cinema industry companies, and distributed by Panorama. The film represented a notable departure for Fardin, who had been typecast as a happy-go-lucky figure in movies with happy endings. Largely because of this shift away from his established screen persona, Ghazal did not perform well at the box office.
