Pouri Banayi — Biography
Pouri Banayi, born Seddigheh Banayi on 11 October 1940 in Arak, Iran, made more than eighty feature-film appearances from 1964 through 1979.
In the years before Iran's 1979 revolution she collaborated with directors including Mehdi Reisfirooz, Samuel Khachikian, Masoud Kimiai and Fereydoun Goleh, and is remembered for landmark Iranian New Wave titles such as Kimiai's 1969 Qeysar and Goleh's The Mandrake.
She also worked abroad, appearing opposite Peter Graves in Leslie H. Martinson's Missile X and opposite Behrouz Vosoughi in Jean Negulesco's The Invincible Six, and was picked to lead the cast of Japanese director Jun'ya Sato's 1973 manga adaptation Golgo 13.
She additionally appeared in a handful of Turkish films, among them Tövbekar, Tek Başına and Ah Bu Gençlik.
