Repentant sinner (Tövbekar) (translated)

Tövbekar ("The Repentant") is a 1977 Turkish-Iranian co-production. It was directed by Ertem Göreç, with Wikidata also crediting Iranian filmmaker Jamshid Sheybani as co-director. Safa Önal wrote the screenplay, Berker İnanoğlu produced, and Orhan Kapkı served as cinematographer. Made by Er Film and Sezer Film, the colour picture runs about 69 minutes and opened in theatres on 1 March 1977.

Mixing adventure, drama and action, the story follows a man once famous as a street tough who renounces his old life after leaving prison. His past refuses to let him go: old enemies and the people he once wronged keep coming after him, and his young son Sezercik takes on a fight far beyond his years to save his father from them.

Kadir İnanır stars as Küçükpazarlı Murat, while Iranian star Pouri Banayi plays İpek. The cast also includes well-known Yeşilçam names such as Sezer İnanoğlu, Erol Taş, Sami Hazinses, Turgut Özatay, Nubar Terziyan and Atıf Kaptan.
