Wood Pigeon

Wood Pigeon (originally titled Toughi in Persian) is a 1970 Iranian drama film directed and written by Ali Hatami, with music composed by Esfandiar Monfaredzadeh. Partly filmed in Kashan and Shiraz, the story weaves together several events, but its central thread follows the secret love felt by the character played by Behruz Vüsuki for a young woman betrothed to her cousin, played by Nasır Melek, set against traditionalist rivalries among Iran's pigeon-fancying community of the era.

Shot in Persian, the cast features well-known names from Iranian cinema of the period, including Behruz Vüsuki, Nasır Melek, Zhaleh Olov, Hamideh Kheirabadi, and Bahman Mofid, rounded out by Gholam-Reza Sarkub and Hossein Gil.
