Gunfighters of Casa Grande

Gunfighters of Casa Grande is a 1964 Eurowestern made as a joint American-Spanish production and filmed in Spain under director Roy Rowland. It marked the last picture Rowland completed for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. Developed from a story by Borden and Patricia Chase and turned into a screenplay with the participation of writer Clarke Reynolds, the film features Alex Nicol, Jorge Mistral, Dick Bentley, and Steve Rowland, the director's son, in the leading roles. Mercedes Alonso, Diana Lorys, Maria Granada, Roberto Rey, and Aldo Sambrell round out the cast, with Antonio Mayáns and José Manuel Martín appearing in minor parts. Running roughly ninety minutes, it stands among the many international Western co-productions shot in Spain during the 1960s. Its trailer is also remembered as the first credited work of voice actor Don LaFontaine, who stepped in when the scheduled announcer never arrived for the recording session.
