Relevo para un pistolero

Movie · 1964 · 2 people

Relevo para un pistolero is a 1964 Spanish western directed by Ramón Torrado. Written by Antonio Giménez Escribano and shot in Spanish, the roughly 93-minute feature is counted among the earliest examples of the European western, arriving before the wave of Italian-made films that would soon define the genre on the continent.

American actor Alex Nicol heads the cast, joined by Luis Dávila, Silvia Solar, Laura Granados, Esperanza Roy and José Guardiola in the principal roles. The ensemble also features Aldo Sambrell, a character actor who would become a familiar face in Spanish and Italian westerns. The picture received only a limited release outside its home country and was never shown in German-speaking markets. Little detailed documentation of its story survives in widely available sources, but the film remains a modest yet notable entry in Spain's early contribution to the genre.
