Hercules (Hercule) (translated)

Hercule is a 1938 French comedy directed by Alexander Esway, starring Fernandel, Gaby Morlay and Pierre Brasseur. The story satirises the Parisian press world: a simple fisherman from Provence unexpectedly inherits a newspaper in Paris. As he tries to adjust to his new position, he soon discovers that some members of his staff are not honest. The clash between the naive provincial man and the cynical world of big-city journalism provides the film's comedy. The picture was shot in 1937 and opened in Paris on 5 March 1938. Jean Grémillon was originally set to direct, but he left the production shortly after filming began, and Esway took over. The screenplay was written by Carlo Rim, and the sets were designed by Pierre Schild.
