Il padrone sono me is a 1955 Italian feature that brought Franco Brusati behind the camera for the first time, working from his own screenplay. The picture adapts Alfredo Panzini's novel of the same name, originally published in 1922.

Shot in Italian and running about ninety-five minutes, it blends comedic and dramatic elements. The ensemble features Myriam Bru, Paolo Stoppa, Andreina Pagnani, Leopoldo Trieste, Daniela Rocca, Pierre Bertin, Guido Celano, Giuseppe Addobbati, Lina Gennari and Armando Annuale.

The film received its world premiere at the 16th Venice International Film Festival, an auspicious launch for Brusati's career as a director, which would go on to span several decades of Italian cinema.
