Pierre Bertin — Biography

Born Pierre Victor Théophile Bertin on October 24, 1891, in Lille, he worked in France as a stage and screen performer, plus a director and set designer, and he died on May 13, 1984, in Paris. He took the lead role in Sacha Guitry's 1948 film The Lame Devil. He additionally penned the libretto for Henri Sauguet's comic opera La Gageure imprévue, staged in Paris during 1944, and had a hand in a Claude Arrieu work for radio, based on Nerval and titled Les Deux Rendez-vous, which aired in 1951. Over the rest of his career he also appeared in Dr. Knock, Elena and Her Men, Les Bonnes Femmes, Dialogue with the Carmelites, Monsieur Gangster, and The Stranger, and he was honored with the prix Littré.
