La Grande Vadrouille (Şahane Oyun)

Set in Nazi-occupied Paris, this 1966 French-British war comedy begins when a Royal Air Force bomber, hit after a raid on Germany, goes down over the city. Its three crewmen —Reginald, Peter Cunningham and Alan MacIntosh— parachute into different districts and must dodge the German forces hunting them. Fate throws them together with two Frenchmen who share nothing in common: Augustin Bouvet, a naive, warm-hearted house painter, and Stanislas LeFort, the bad-tempered, self-important conductor of the Paris Opera. Far from willingly, the pair embark on a perilous, frequently farcical escape journey to smuggle the airmen across into unoccupied France.

Gérard Oury directed the picture and wrote the screenplay together with Danièle Thompson and Marcel Jullian; the leading roles are played by Bourvil, Louis de Funès and Terry-Thomas. With over 17 million tickets sold in France, it dominated the national box office for decades and still ranks among the most-seen French productions ever. The film reached Turkish cinemas in March 1970.
