Rémy Julienne — Biography
Rémy Julienne was born on 17 April 1930 in Cepoy, France, and rose from a career in motorcycle racing to become one of French cinema's most celebrated stunt coordinators. After winning the French motocross championship in the mid-1950s, he moved into filmmaking, staging the car chases for André Hunebel's 1964 thriller Fantômas.
Over the following decades he designed the driving stunts for French productions such as Elle court, elle court la banlieue, Papaz Kaçtı, Dracula and Son and Watch Out, We're Mad!, as well as several instalments of the James Bond franchise, and is credited with coordinating more than 1,400 stunt sequences in total. He occasionally appeared on camera himself and was honoured by the French state as an Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters.
Julienne died on 21 January 2021 in France, remembered as one of the defining figures behind the modern car-stunt tradition in world cinema.
