The Lame Devil

Movie · 1948 · 2 people

The Lame Devil (original title Le Diable boiteux) is a 1948 French black-and-white historical film written and directed by Sacha Guitry, who also stars in the lead role. A biographical drama, it portrays the life of the celebrated French diplomat Talleyrand (1754–1838).

Guitry's screenplay was initially forbidden by the French censor, so the project was first adapted into a stage play called Talleyrand before returning to the screen. The film premiered in Paris on 29 September 1948 and went on to be released in six languages.
