The Queen's Necklace

The Queen's Necklace (L'Affaire du collier de la reine) is a 1946 French historical drama directed by Marcel L'Herbier from a screenplay by Charles Spaak. Starring Viviane Romance, Maurice Escande and Jacques Dacqmine, the film dramatizes the notorious Affair of the Diamond Necklace, the scandal that badly damaged the reputation of Queen Marie Antoinette during the 1780s.

Production took place at the Saint-Maurice Studios as well as on location at the Palace of Versailles, with sets designed by art director Max Douy. Running about 118 minutes, the film evokes the intrigue-laden atmosphere of the French monarchy's final years through period-authentic settings.
