Luc Andrieux — Biography

Luc Andrieux was born on 12 February 1917 in Agon-Coutainville, France, and died on 26 November 1977 in Paris. Working both as an actor and as an assistant director, he remained active in French cinema from the late 1940s through the mid-1970s.

Andrieux appeared in more than two dozen films, including Cet homme est dangereux, Le Chevalier de la nuit, Madelon, La Cité de l'indicible peur, and Un linceul n'a pas de poches. The most notable credit of his career came in 1959, when he appeared in François Truffaut's The 400 Blows, one of the defining films of the French New Wave.

Typically cast in supporting and character parts, Andrieux remained a steady presence in French film until his death, while also working behind the camera as an assistant director on several productions.
