The Big Wash

The Big Wash (La Grande Lessive) is a 1968 French comedy directed by Jean-Pierre Mocky. The story follows Armand Saint-Just, a literature teacher at a Parisian high school, who notices that his students can no longer concentrate in class. In his view, the culprit is television, whose influence he considers harmful in every respect.

After several petitions urging parents to keep their children away from the screens go unanswered, Saint-Just decides to take matters into his own hands. Aided by his colleague Missenard, he begins sabotaging television antennas across the city. Running about 95 minutes, the film delivers a satirical jab at television's grip on society.
