Jabbar, Runaway Sergeant

Jabbar, Runaway Sergeant (Persian: جبار سرجوخه فراری) is a 1973 Iranian crime film. It was directed by Aman Manteghi from a screenplay by Soheila Nasr, and produced in Persian during the final years of Iran's pre-revolution commercial cinema. The cast is headed by Mohammad-Ali Fardin, one of the most popular stars of Iranian popular cinema at the time, alongside Hassan Rezaei, with supporting performances by Manouchehr Hamedi, Mohsen Mahdavi, Reza Rakhshani, Jamshid Mehrdad, Maloosak and Zabihollah Zabihpour. As its title indicates, the story centers on a sergeant who has gone on the run, placing the picture within the crime genre that was a staple of the era's Film Farsi output. The film stands as one of many productions from Fardin's prolific screen career in the 1970s, when he was among the country's biggest box-office draws.
