Mule drivers (Katırcılar) (translated)

Katırcılar (The Mule Drivers) is a 1987 Turkish drama-adventure film directed by Şerif Gören. Shot in the rugged, snow-covered mountains of Bingöl, it portrays the harsh lives of men who earn their living as mule drivers carrying smuggled goods. The screenplay, written by Hüseyin Kuzu and Eyüp Halit Türkyazıcı, was adapted from a work by Fuat Çelik.

The story follows three villagers, four soldiers and a female journalist on a grueling journey through the winter cold. When the mule drivers run afoul of the gendarmerie, their affairs spiral out of control and the trip grows increasingly tense. Kadir İnanır stars as Rüstem, alongside Necmettin Çobanoğlu, Ayşegül Aldinç, Halil Ergün and Bülent Bilgiç. Produced by Uzman Film, the film runs 86 minutes.
