King Shakir (Kral Şakir) (translated)

Kral Şakir is a Turkish animated series produced by Grafi2000 for Cartoon Network Turkey, where it premiered as the channel's first locally produced show. Created by Varol Yaşaroğlu, Berk Tokay and Haluk Can Dizdaroğlu, it aired a sneak peek on April 23, 2016, before officially launching on May 16, 2016, and was also shown on Boomerang Turkey. The series later expanded abroad, debuting in Russia on the Солнце channel in 2024 and on Karusel in 2025.

The story follows Şakir, a lion cub in a family of animals who live like humans in a cartoon version of Istanbul. His father Remzi is a lion, while his mother Kadriye and sister Canan are cats, and the turtle Peyami Dede accompanies the household. Remzi's best friend, the purple elephant Necati, the inventor Mirket, the stray dog Tanju and the scheming vulture Kürşat round out the cast. The franchise grew to include theatrical films starting with Kral Şakir: Oyun Zamanı in 2018, releases on Exxen and Disney+, and the preschool spin-off Kral Şakir Mini in 2024.
