Milarepa

Milarepa is a 2025 English-language independent film written and directed by Louis Nero. A co-production between Italy and the United States, it is classified in sources as an adventure, drama and science fiction film, runs 100 minutes, and was released on June 19, 2025. Produced by Jake Seal, the film is distributed in the United States by ORWO Film Distribution.

The film draws inspiration from the life of the Buddhist saint Milarepa, after whom it is named, and is partly based on Hermann Hesse's novel Siddhartha. The story follows Mila, whose father is murdered by her aunt Khulan; setting out from the Mediterranean in search of revenge, she travels to distant lands to learn magic, disguising herself as a man along the way. The international cast includes Isabelle Allen (Mila), Harvey Keitel (Marpa), F. Murray Abraham, Franco Nero, Ángela Molina, Iazua Larios, Michael Ronda and Hal Yamanouchi.
