Haruhiko Yamanouchi — Biography

Also credited as Hal Yamanouchi, Haruhiko Yamanouchi was born on 20 April 1946 in Tokyo and has built a multi-disciplinary career in Italy spanning acting, dubbing, dance, and choreography. After studying at the University of Tokyo, he began as a mime and went on to perform in and choreograph numerous stage productions; he has resided in Italy and held Italian citizenship since 1975. From 1976 onward he took part in more than a hundred films and television productions, including several 1980s genre pictures for directors such as Sergio Martino, Ruggero Deodato, and Enzo G. Castellari; internationally, he is best recognized for his role in Wes Anderson's The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou and for playing Yashida, revealed as the Silver Samurai, in The Wolverine. He also appeared in the Turkish-set film Grain (Buğday) and has worked as a translator and dubbing voice for Japanese-language films released in Italy.
