2020 Texas Gladiators

2020 Texas Gladiators (original title: Anno 2020 – I gladiatori del futuro) is an Italian science fiction action film co-directed by Joe D'Amato and George Eastman. Written by Eastman together with Aldo Florio, the film was produced by D'Amato with a score by Carlo Maria Cordio. According to German sources, Eastman handled most of the directing while D'Amato contributed only a handful of scenes. The cast includes Al Cliver, Peter Hooten, Haruhiko Yamanouchi, Sabrina Siani and Donald O'Brien.

Set in a post-apocalyptic Texas devastated by wars and disasters, the film follows a band of warriors who resist a fascist regime seeking to seize control of the surviving population. Released in Germany on video in 1984 with censorship cuts, it remained on the indexed list there until 2009. Counted among the low-budget post-apocalyptic productions that followed the Mad Max wave, it has been received by critics as an entertaining B-movie offering for genre enthusiasts.
