Haunted (Musallat)

Musallat is a 2007 Turkish horror film that marked the directorial debut of Alper Mestçi, who had previously worked as a screenwriter on the film Gen. Shot in Istanbul and Berlin with a cast made up largely of young actors, it was released with a 15+ age restriction because of its horror content.

The story follows Suat, a young man who leaves his newlywed wife Nurcan in Türkiye to earn money in Berlin, only to find himself haunted by dark visions as a jinn targets his marriage. Opening nationwide on November 16, 2007, the film drew over 300,000 viewers in Türkiye and ranked among the year's highest-grossing domestic productions. Burak Özçivit stars alongside Biğkem Karavus. Its success turned it into a franchise, followed by Musallat 2: Lanet in 2011 and Musallat 3 in 2023.
