Paris Memories (Revoir Paris)
A woman coping with the aftermath of surviving a terrorist attack is at the heart of Paris Memories (original French title Revoir Paris), which tells her story through the slow piecing together of fragments of memory. Alice Winocour wrote and directed this 2022 French drama. Both French and English are spoken. The film had its world premiere on 21 May 2022 in the Directors' Fortnight at Cannes and reached Turkish cinemas on 21 July 2023.
On an autumn evening Mia, a translator, goes to a restaurant in Paris and is caught up in an attack. Three months later she is still in shock and holds only broken images of that night. Wanting her old life back, she starts looking into the event and the other victims, trying to reassemble her memories. Virginie Efira plays Mia, with Benoît Magimel as Thomas, Grégoire Colin as Vincent and Maya Sansa as Sara. Amadou Mbow, Nastya Golubeva, Anne-Lise Heimburger, Sofia Lesaffre and Clarisse Makundul also appear.
Winocour wrote the screenplay with Jean-Stéphane Bron and Marcia Romano, and Dharamsala produced. The film runs about an hour and forty-five minutes, and the following year Efira won the César for Best Actress at the 48th César Awards for her performance.
