Playa del futuro

Playa del futuro is a 2005 German comedy-drama written and directed by Peter Lichtefeld. It tells the story of three childhood friends who run a corner pub in Mülheim an der Ruhr: when Rudi leaves to chase his dream in Spain, abandoning his Finnish girlfriend Kati, Jan and Kati take over the venue and transform it into a Spanish restaurant. On opening day, however, they learn that Rudi never paid any taxes, forcing them to find 25,000 euros or lose everything. Blending comedy, drama and road-movie elements in a quiet, melancholy tone, the 94-minute film explores love and the longing for dreams against a backdrop stretching from Germany to Spain. The cast includes Peter Lohmeyer, Nina Petri, Outi Mäenpää and Hilmi Sözer.
