Police is a 1985 French neo-noir crime drama directed by Maurice Pialat from a screenplay by Catherine Breillat, starring Gérard Depardieu, Sophie Marceau and Sandrine Bonnaire. The story follows Mangin, a weary, cynical police detective who, while investigating a drug ring in Paris, becomes infatuated with a mysterious woman and is pulled into a dangerous, shadowy scheme. Depardieu won the best actor prize at the Venice Film Festival for his performance, and the film was nominated for the César awards. It drew over 1.8 million admissions in France.
