Reclaim Your Brain

Reclaim Your Brain (German: Free Rainer – Dein Fernseher lügt) is a 2007 German-Austrian media satire written and directed by Hans Weingartner. Moritz Bleibtreu plays Rainer, a television producer who has grown rich and successful churning out ratings-driven, trashy programming. His life is turned upside down when a young woman named Pegah deliberately crashes her car into his, holding one of his shows responsible for her grandfather's suicide. Shaken by the incident, Rainer undergoes a conversion and sets out to create intelligent, enlightening television instead. His crusade soon leads him to uncover a far-reaching conspiracy within the broadcast industry aimed at deliberately keeping the quality of television programming low. The film offers a biting critique of mass media manipulation and television's influence on its audience.
