Soldier of Fortune

Directed by Pasquale Festa Campanile, this 1976 Italian-French co-production is a comedy built around its star Bud Spencer, who plays the popular Italian folk hero Ettore Fieramosca. The film retells the historic Challenge of Barletta in a comic and grotesque vein, following Fieramosca and his companions as they defend their honor through a string of farcical adventures. Released in Italy as Il soldato di ventura, it appeared under various titles in other countries, including La Grande Bagarre in France.
