The Bed

Secrets d'alcôve is a 1954 French-Italian anthology comedy composed of four segments, each directed by a different filmmaker: Henri Decoin's "Le billet de logement", Jean Delannoy's "Le lit de la Pompadour", Gianni Franciolini's "Le divorce" and Ralph Habib's "Riviera-Express". Linked by a bedroom and alcove theme, the sketches satirize love, marriage and relationships in contemporary French society. The ensemble cast includes Jeanne Moreau and François Périer among many others, and the film runs about 86 minutes. It was released in the United Kingdom by Kingsley International. The screenplay was written by Sergio Amidei, Paul Andréota and Antoine Blondin. The film stands as an example of the sketch-comedy tradition that was popular in French cinema during the 1950s, bringing together several prominent directors and stars of the era in a single lighthearted production.
