The Chivalrous
The Chivalrous (Javanmard) is a 1974 Iranian romantic drama directed by Fereydoun Jourak. The film stars Mohammad-Ali Fardin, one of the most popular leading men of pre-revolutionary Iranian cinema, alongside singer and actress Marjan, with supporting performers including Ali Miri and Zackaria Hashemi. Written by Ahmad Najibzadeh and shot in Persian, the picture is remembered as one of the nostalgic favorites of classic Iranian cinema. Its success was so great that audiences began calling Fardin himself "javanmard" — a Persian term for a gallant, honorable man — a nickname that stayed with him for the rest of his career. The film remains closely associated with his screen image as a chivalrous hero.
