The Double Bed

The Double Bed (Le Lit à deux places, released in Italy as Racconti a due piazze) is a 1965 French-Italian comedy built as an anthology of separate sketches. True to its title, each segment revolves around couples and the comic situations that unfold in and around the shared marital bed. The episodes were directed by Jean Delannoy, François Dupont-Midy, Gianni Puccini and Alvaro Mancori, while the screenplay credits go to Jean-Loup Dabadie, Darry Cowl and Alfredo Giannetti. The ensemble cast features Darry Cowl, Michel Serrault and Nino Castelnuovo appearing across the various stories. Shot in French and released in August 1965, the picture belongs to the wave of European sketch comedies popular in the 1960s, offering a lighthearted look at love and marriage through a series of loosely connected bedroom tales.
