The Dust of Time

The Dust of Time is a 2008 drama film written and directed by Greek filmmaker Theodoros Angelopoulos. A Greek-Italian-French co-production shot in English, its screenplay was penned by Angelopoulos together with Tonino Guerra and Petros Markaris, while Eleni Karaindrou composed the score. The film forms the second chapter of a trilogy Angelopoulos launched with The Weeping Meadow in 2004, a project left unfinished after his sudden death in January 2012.

The 125-minute film stars Willem Dafoe, Irène Jacob, Bruno Ganz, Michel Piccoli, and Christiane Paul. It had its world premiere at the 59th Berlin Film Festival in February 2009, where it drew critical praise, and only reached French cinemas in 2013, several years after its completion.
