Three Tough Guys

Three Tough Guys, also released simply as Tough Guys, is a 1974 crime-action picture directed by Italian filmmaker Duccio Tessari. A co-production between the United States, Italy and France, it reached Italian screens under the title Uomini duri and French ones as Les Durs.

The film brings together Lino Ventura, Fred Williamson and soul musician Isaac Hayes, with Hayes additionally supplying the score. Shot on location in Chicago, it blends the Italian poliziottesco style with the American buddy-action formula, following its three hard-nosed protagonists as they are drawn into a shared criminal case and forced to work together. The screenplay was written by Nicola Badalucco and Luciano Vincenzoni, and the picture runs roughly 92 minutes, standing as a characteristic mid-1970s example of cross-European action filmmaking with an international cast.
